CORROSION- DETECTOR
Corrosion-Detector is a project by Team Vector where we focus on resolving the maintenance of billboards in the state of Oaxaca. There has been an unfortunate rise in billboards throughout the region and as it still continues to go on, we wanted to address this serious issue.
Billboards can be found anywhere on the street - above a shop and even inside a house; without having taken the necessary care and safety checks. Thus, over time there have been cases of the billboards collapsing and causing accidents that affect both the outsiders and the owners of the billboards.
This type of construction requires a good and regular follow-up. However, the ones in charge of managing billboards are the Urban Planning Department and the Ministry of the Environment, where they only ask for payment and fill out a document specifying the size and the material of the billboard, the content of the advertisement and what kind of advertising it is. Our concern is that this does not help in the long run at all because with time and ever-changing climatic conditions, these structures are damaged and the insurer of these billboards does not cover the damage if the billboards are affected due to corrosion.
This image (above) is a billboard that has been affected due to corrosion. This particular photograph was taken with a drone as this tool does not involve any risks while taking an image. This photograph is then used for artificial intelligence that detects if the billboard has corrosion or not
